PICKING UP OBJECTS
Locate items that help solve the mystery.When picked up by a character, objects will appear in the "Inventory" located at the bottom of the game screen.You can use the objects whenever necessary.
THE INVENTORY
When you pick up an object, it appears in the inventory in the bottom left hand corner of the game screen as an icon. There are two ways to use objects from the inventory: Sometimes you can simply click on the icon of the object; on other occasions you need to drag and drop the icon onto the background or a character to activate the object.
THE DURATION OF THE GAME
Be careful!In Arcane's universe, time elapses with each click of the mouse. If you run out of time, terrible things may happen! Remain cautious and avoidclicking needlessly.
You will learn to rely on your keenness of sight and your deductive abilities. If you click thoughtlessly, your character could be confined to a lunatic asylum or even devoured by a horrible creature of darkness!Be warned!
THE CHARACTERS
Each Arcane character is endowed with his (her) own features, abilities and field of expertise. To win the game, you will have to master all of them.
Ophelia gathers clues by using her psychic powers. Prescott will employ his many technical tools, while Gregor consults an array of scientific documents or parchments written in forgotten languages.
OPHELIA'S DIARY
You may consult Ophelia's diary at any time for help. The diary enables you to save or load a game.
Click on the icon appearing at the bottom-right corner of the screen to open the diary; you will be able to perform the following:
SAVE GAME: Click to save a running game.LOAD GAME: Click to load a saved game.RETURN TO GAME: Click to close Ophelia'sdiary and return to the game.

It all began when I received a strangeletter from Baroness Vonarburg,of the London Philharmonic Society,inviting me to enter their internationalviolin contest.
Somehow, for a reason I couldn't pinpoint,the way she wrote kept reminding me of that fateful summer at the Miller estate. I decided to discuss the matter with my father and with Prescott Bridgeman.
They were as intrigued as I was. Since the contest was such a wonderful opportunity for me as a musician, we decided that I should go, and that they would accompany me toEngland to investigate...
And possibly find out more about thesinister plans of the Elder Star,the secret society led by the terrible Cardinal.
As soon as we disembarked in London, a mysterious woman lunged at Prescott, handed him a message and vanished in the fog.
Incredibly, the message was signedby Alicia Blackwood, the very same womanwho had been corresponding with theMiller Villa's last tenant, Alvin Carter.
She was asking us to meet herin a secret hideout, near the docks.
The next morning, on the front pageof the London Times, we saw apicture of our unknown messenger,who had been found dead in the Thames.
While I prepared for my concert,Prescott went to meet the mysteriousAlicia Blackwood...
