PICKING UP OBJECTS
Locate items that help solve the mystery.When picked up by a character, objects will appear in the "Inventory" located at the bottom of the game screen.You can use the objects whenever necessary.
THE INVENTORY
When you pick up an object, it appears in the inventory in the bottom left hand corner of the game screen as an icon. There are two ways to use objects from the inventory: Sometimes you can simply click on the icon of the object; on other occasions you need to drag and drop the icon onto the background or a character to activate the object.
THE DURATION OF THE GAME
Be careful!In Arcane's universe, time elapses with each click of the mouse. If you run out of time, terrible things may happen! Remain cautious and avoidclicking needlessly.
You will learn to rely on your keenness of sight and your deductive abilities. If you click thoughtlessly, your character could be confined to a lunatic asylum or even devoured by a horrible creature of darkness!Be warned!
THE CHARACTERS
Each Arcane character is endowed with his (her) own features, abilities and field of expertise. To win the game, you will have to master all of them.
Ophelia gathers clues by using her psychic powers. Prescott will employ his many technical tools, while Gregor consults an array of scientific documents or parchments written in forgotten languages.
OPHELIA'S DIARY
You may consult Ophelia's diary at any time for help. The diary enables you to save or load a game.
Click on the icon appearing at the bottom-right corner of the screen to open the diary; you will be able to perform the following:
SAVE GAME: Click to save a running game.LOAD GAME: Click to load a saved game.RETURN TO GAME: Click to close Ophelia'sdiary and return to the game.

While Prescott and I were hurrying towards the train station, Father left for the prestigious Museum of Anthropology to solve the mystery of the dismembered demon.
After a warm welcome and a little chat aboutthe old days at the faculty, father soon realized that
Dr. Smith never left a message for him at the hotel.He didn't even know that we were visiting England.
Father then showed him one of the hands thatwe had found. Dr. Smith was astounded.
He grew pale and a mixture of fear and excitementcrept into his voice. He rushed out of the office,
saying that he was keeping a similar piece in themuseum's archives.
Father waited a while for hisfriend to come back, to no avail.He was beginning to run out of patience?

......It came to pass, during the reign of our great king Edward, that afoul demon escaped fromits infernal banishmentand brought forthdevastation to theenglish kingdom.
It is said that the creature, born of the Stone Circle, drew its nourishment not from any Earthly source, but from the alignment of the stars.
Soon, a holy army of knights and noblemen arose from all parts of the land. After a glorious campaign, an end was brought to the pain and the despair, for the great monster was slain and its foul carcass given to the Monks of St. George to be burnt and its ashes scattered.
But the beast's despoiled body did not burn, nor did its demonic heart stop beating within its cadaverous chest. After much deliberation, the monks carved the monster into Five parts,
severing the head and the hands and the heart at the Old Sarum monastery, and buried the blasphemous relics under great warding glyphs in the remotest parts of the Kingdom.
For it is said that if the Five should ever be brought back together at the Stone Circle, when the stars align again at the End of Time, a dark soul will resurrect the creature and seal the Doom of the World.
